Wolfpen Falls

Wolfpen Falls, at least in April 2008, was not the most impressive waterfall in the Sipsey Wilderness. It does fall through some vertical distance but with only a thin stream. And finding a view from the bottom is difficult. It is however quite possible to climb up behind the falling water and enjoy the scenery.

This one takes some cross country bushwhacking. For the shortest distance, start from Highway 60, parking by the Cullman "Motorway" or Wolfpen Cemetery. Work your way north across the ridge to the falls. The terrain is level without any major obstacles.

From trail 209 - Sipsey River, Wolfpen Canyon drops off to the south about two miles from the eastern end of 209 at Borden Creek. BUT you have to cross the river. From the northern edge of Wolfpen Canyon, walk about a third of a mile to the falls. The path has some steep banks but in general is not too bad.

For other routes, you may wish to see the club's Hiking Trip Report from April 2008.

On the Briartech map, look in the lower center section or search for Wolfpen Falls.
