Deer Skull Falls

Both Deer Skull Falls and Eagle Falls can be accessed by following the Little Ugly Branch west from where it joins the Sipsey at about the midpoint of trail 209 - Sipsey River. You will need to cross the Sipsey to get there.

Walk on either side of Little Ugly for about a mile to where it forks. The right fork takes you to the magnificent Deer Skull Falls which is actually two waterfalls. Facing the falls, the right hand side is the taller and thinner, starting way up out of sight. To the left is the wider final cascade of a series of cascades.

Deer Skull Falls can also be accessed from the other direction from trail 202 - Randolph. Follow the trail to the Johnson Cemetery and either start the cross country bushwhacking from there or from maybe another mile down the path. You will want a decent map/GPS for this.

For the club's experience, you may wish to see the Hiking Trip Report from April 2008.

On the Briartech map, look in the lower center section or search for Deer Skull Falls.
