Minutes of the April 1, 2008 Sipsey Wilderness Hiking Club regular monthly meeting held at the Bernice Hilton Walker Building in Double Springs

In attendance were: Gary, Bart, Danny, Larry, Mimi, Judy, Sandy, James.

Chairman Gary White called the meeting to order shortly after 7 PM.  The minutes were read and approved.  Mimi also presented the treasurer’s report.

Old business. Concerning the plaque for T&F, we apparently will have to make arrangements with a shop in Jasper.  Gary will have more on this.

We will have a guest speaker from Wild South at our next meeting.

Larry reported on the March trail maintenance work day and the almost rained-out day hike along trails 223 and 204 to the Big Tree.

It was decided to skip the April trail maintenance since the trail is in good shape and the weather is getting warm.  Gary passed around maps showing the route for the April 12 day hike in the Sipsey Wilderness.

New business.  After some discussion about the possibility of combining the May and June outings into a single weekend, it was decided to leave things the way they were originally planned (Walls of Jericho in May, Stevenson in June) though we need to check on the dates for Stevenson Depot Days.

The meeting adjourned shortly after 8 PM.
